16. Saved for a later date

Saved for a later date

I take you to places that I know well
Walk you along routes that are part of routine
Embed you in my daily space
I know that if I place you in a cafe or bar
That I frequent
I’ll see you again, each time I walk through that door
And then to make the difference
I walk you along pathways that are new to me
I make memories from a moment
That is something else to me
Build into time and space a whole new era
Shaped by an emotion all fresh for me
Alert to the sounds around
I convert the pattern of movements
Into impressions that address
This unaccustomed need in me
Draw a picture to recall at later dates
Alone, lost in empty rooms, without you
