She winds her breath into you
Breathe easy she says
As the darkest day draws to an end
She is my life, you say
Everything easy, night after day
Cold winter worn weak
You build her to meekness
Take her smile away
She is silent
Her voice whispers, lost
Her hands ache, grow clumsy
At night she twists, turns too late
Everywhere there is nothing
Darkness spreads across, rolls onwards
This was her place, here she felt safe
Now she turns her face
Away from you, sways away from you
The crackle of her breath
Exhales against air colded out into night
You no longer hold her
You left
Yet she was gone long before you went
